The best of luck to Heart of the South Racing and the syndicate owners of Fruity O’Rooney who runs tomorrow in the JLT Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
Fruity O’Rooney, a 9yo bay gelding by Kahyasi out of Recipe, has been owned by Heart of the South Racing since summer 2009. Trained by Sussex based trainer Gary Moore, the much loved horse was switched from hurdles to novice chasing in Autumn 2010 and won on his debut over the larger obstacles at Fontwell Park on 20th October. In spite of coming up against heavyweights such as Grand Crus and Quantativeeasing the horse was back in the winners enclosure on National Spirit day at Fontwell Park on 27th February this year. And having come home a very creditable third at Haydock Park in the Sky Bet Chase behind the Henrietta Knight trained Calgary Bay and Nicky Henderson trained Shakalakaboomboom, Fruity O’Rooney goes into tomorrow’s JLT Handicap Chase on ground that will suit him and a nice handicap mark.
Speaking to Heart of the South Racing, Gary Moore says that the horse is “in peak condition and musn’t be ruled out!.”
It won’t escape Fruity O’Rooney’s owners that betting market favourite for the JLT Handicap Chase is Quantativeeasing who beat them by just six lengths last winter. Tomorrow Fruity O’Rooney goes into the race with a massive 22lb advantage over his rival. For the syndicate owners of Fruity O’Rooney tomorrow is what dreams are made of!
Quantativeeasing is best priced 13/2 with Paddy Power to win the JLT Handicap Chase with Fruity O’Rooney best price 20/1 with Stan James.
